APS Sport Alumni

APS Sport has been the home to present day Olympians, Test Match Cricketers, AFL & AFLW Footballers and multiple other people competing at the pinnacle of their chosen sport. Before they reached that level though they were just another student on a Saturday morning representing their school and playing with their friends. The APS Sport Alumni #Reflections Series provides some insights as to where the journey began – at APS Sport. Over this series we will hear from some of our most recent successful Alumni about their favourite #APS School Sport memories, the people that helped shape their journey and what lessons or tips they have for the present day students. Amy Lawton, attended Haileybury from 2015-2019. Amy captained the firsts Hockey side during her time at the school as well as competing in soccer and triathlons. Incredibly she has made representative teams for Victoria in all three sports. In 2019, at just 17, Amy was selected to make her debut with the Hockeyroos during the FIH Pro League, where the team walked away with a 5-1 win over New Zealand. After her impressive debut season, Amy was named to the 2020 Hockeyroos squad and was also presented with the Emerging Athlete of the Year award at the Australian Institute of Sport Awards. At just 19-years-old, Amy made her Olympic debut at the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games. These are her reflections from her school days.
