Second part of the June July school holidays travel to far northern NSW to witness the 'changing of the guard' transition from first generation ALCO motive power to later generation GM diesel 81 class working a mix of National Rail Corporation (NRC) and Freight Rail services, noting that NRC commenced some 10 weeks earlier. Best viewed on a large screen with volume set to high. Enjoy magpies and native birds as they chatter away, witness long gone, typical NSW rail line side infrastructure as depicted at The Risk interlocking, listen to the humming GM chant, as 81 class take up their first few weeks of new assignment on the far north. Sadly, 44 class were all but gone on the far north by July 1994, with this short video taking witness to the last revenue working of a 45 class on a fright train ex Acacia Ridge.
