Celeste | Strawberry Jam - Platforming Perfection | Mod Showcase

Strawberry Jam is the best 2D platforming experience I've ever encountered. If this video can get one person to give a try for themselves, I'll consider it a success. I still don't know what this video is. Part level showcase, part live reaction, part high level overview of movement mechanics. Apologies if I messed up the description of game mechanics and/or terminology anywhere. At the time of recording, had only been exploring the world of modded Celeste for about a month. (I first played vanilla Celeste 5 years ago on the Switch and hadn't touched it since) I didn't know the modding scene existed until I stumbled across a YouTube video featuring a GDQ run of Celeste in early February. I thought I'd somehow missed the release of a sequel game! (the video in question was Comet625 running Into the Jungle    • Celeste Custom Maps by Comet625 in 21...  ) I have a habit of recording all my game footage (so I can review it later and note where I can improve) When I got really sick for roughly a week, I wasn't capable of playing Celeste; too much brain fog. However, I could edit footage I'd already recorded. Started putting this together primarily as a means to learn how to use DaVinci Resolve. I can definitely say I learned a ton throughout the process. (now I know why some creators use a script. And why it made my life so hard to salvage the mic audio. It can be difficult to talk coherently while playing a game!) Some in-game music has been replaced. Since this started as a personal project, I selected tracks to fit my mood at the time (or to evoke how I felt while playing the map). I did try and put info cards when the in-game OST was used. (random aside: the SJ gyms were masterfully made. It was amazing to have a dedicated zone to practice movement tech. Also, Deathkontrol's Ultra Skool was very helpful for learning how to ultra) I'm one of those people who are very critical of their own work. However, if I was forced to say something positive about this project, I'd say I'm really proud of the audio mix. Managed to keep dynamic range with no distortion to mic, in game audio, music, or sound effects. Special thanks to J4mpet, Maxx, 3BH, and Dan for the advice and critique.
