If you are suffering from an L3-L4 herniated disc, it is important to understand the underlying causes and seek treatment as soon as possible. In this video, Dr. Walter Salubro will discuss the common causes of L3-L4 disc herniation, treatment options, and the types of exercises that may be helpful for L3-L4 disc bulge. The discs in your spine are designed to act as cushions between the vertebrae. They are gel-like structures that help to absorb shock and protect the spine. A herniated disc occurs when the outer layer of the disc tears and allows the inner gel to leak out. This can put pressure on the nerves surrounding the affected area and lead to pain, numbness, and weakness. A herniated disc at the L3-L4 level specifically refers to a disc herniation between the third and fourth lumbar vertebrae. There are several factors that can contribute to a herniated disc at the L3-L4 level. These include: • Spinal distortions, Spinal misalignments, Abnormal spinal alignment: these distortions on the spine put abnormal loads on the discs that cause annular tears and can lead to disc bulges at this level. • Degenerative disc disease: This occurs when the discs in the spine begin to degenerate with age. The discs can become thinner and less able to cushion the vertebrae effectively. This can lead to a herniated disc. • Injury: A traumatic injury to the low back can cause a herniated disc. • Poor posture: Poor posture puts strain and stress on the spine and can cause a bulging disc over time. • Scoliosis: This is a lateral curvature of the spine with rotation which also cause degeneration and injury to the disc at L3-L4. • Spinal instabilities: these serious misalignments can aslo cause L3-L4 disc herniation. If you have been diagnosed with an L3-L4 disc herniation, there are several treatment options available. These include conservative treatments such as correctice chiropractic care, ice, heat, and physical therapy. In some cases, surgery may be necessary to remove the damaged portion of the disc or relieve pressure on the nerves. L3-L4 Disc Herniation Exercises: exercises for L3 L4 disc bugle can include cat camel, lumbar extensions, superman, prone cross crawl, planks. If you have been diagnosed with an L3-L4 disc herniation, be sure to follow your doctor's recommendations for treatment, get checked by a corrective care chiropractor, and take steps to prevent further injury by maintaining good posture and exercising regularly.
