Kirk Fell & Great Gable. Lake District. 16th September 2021

A walk starting from Wasdale Head in the Lake District up to Kirk Fell (802m) and Great Gable (899m). The walk starts from the Car Park at Wasdale Head and first heads along the track which runs past the small church at Wasdale Head. After passing Burnthwaite Farm and crossing a footbridge over Gable Beck the route heads uphill, following a clear path up Gavel Neese to Beck Head. From Beck Head we turn left and start the climb up Rib End. From Rib End the route continues to the summit of Kirk Fell (802m) We then re-trace our steps back down to Beck Head and start the climb up to Great Gable. From the summit of Great Gable we walk the short distance to the fantastic view at the Westmorland Cairn. From the Westmorland Cairn we head back towards Great Gable summit and pick up the path which heads down to Sty Head. From the stretcher box at Sty Head we turn right and follow the path down to Wasdale Head. A superb walk, distance around 7.5 miles
