𝗥𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗚𝗟𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗦𝗘 of what's under Sir Titus Salts Vault, Shipley | Bradford District

We visit the Saltaire United Reformed Church in Saltaire, Shipley | Bradford District. 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗺 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗶𝗿 𝗧𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘀 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘁𝘀 𝗩𝗮𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿. This Grade 1 Listed Building (in the same category as Hampton Court Palace and Salisbury Cathedral) lies in the valley of the River Aire, at the foot of the Pennine Moors and at the entrance to the Yorkshire Dales. Paid for out of his own pocket by Sir Titus Salt, it is a focal point of the “model” village, Saltaire, that he built for the workers at his huge mill to ensure their spiritual needs were catered for. ➡️ The survey is now closed. Thank you for all the submissions. Have a look at 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲:    • 𝗘𝗫𝗖𝗟𝗨𝗦𝗜𝗩𝗘 look inside SECRET TUNNELS ...   𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵 The bells were rung for the last time to celebrate the signing of the Armistice in 1918, and by 1922 were in a bad way when inspected by Taylors. They recommended a new frame and fittings, but no action was taken.. By the 1930s YACR Reports were listing practice ringing by arrangement with Alfred Riley, which suggests wishful thinking about their condition. By 1936 they had been officially declared unringable. The YACR Report for 1937/38 shows Riley as deceased, and this is the last mention of Saltaire in the annals of the Association. It is likely that interest in the bells died along with their last ringer, and they were removed during the Second World War and sold for scrap for £85. They were reinstated in September 2003, and as is the tradition each bell is named. One is named Titus, another is Jonathan. The bells were cast in Eindhoven, Holland, by Royal Eijsbout Foundry. https://commons.wikimedia.org/ Thanks to The Elders Of Saltaire United Reformed Church that helped us to make this video possible.
