Legendary Skate Photographer Grant Brittain

Steve Caballero, Tony Hawk, Christian Hosoi, Mike McGill. These were household names for kids growing up in the 80s and following the skate culture coming out of Southern California. Grant Brittain was also part of the same scene, but as the photographer. He was the big brother who captured these kids.... when they were kids. Grant has been photographing the skate culture for over 38 years and has worked with most of the major skateboard magazine, including being the photo editor for Transworld Skateboarding (TWS) for many years. Although he primarily shoots for the skateboard industry, he's more than just a 'skateboard' photographer. Please enjoy my interview with the legendary Grant Brittain as we talk about his prolific career, his first camera, and his passion for film photography. This interview was recorded after the Film Paideia Conference hosted by The Darkroom in San Clemente California, and co-hosted by Beers and Cameras.
