Ben Gravy Retro Fish Surfboard Review

In this episode, I review Wave Bandit Ben Gravy 5’8" Retro Fish surfboard that is a true dream catcher. I usually bring it with me to the beach in addition to my regular fiberglass board. I surfed on this board in different conditions and it never disappointed! 5’8” Ben Gravy Retro Fish comes with 48 liters of pure dream. It has a relatively flat rocker, retro fish shape with a swallow tail! It also comes with a special 4.5” performance quad fin set. After I put 7 sessions into this board, it only has some minor foot impressions on the deck. The seams are still decently glued from top to the bottom. I usually have zero expectations in performance when I surf on a soft top. It’s all about having fun. However, this particular model allows me to do basic maneuvers and train my muscle memory by doing more repetitions with longer rides all the way to the sand despite the conditions. It has a short rail line which fits nicely in the pocket. The board is over packed with volume which can be really challenging for duck dives however it allows me to stay and keep the speed on the weakest part of the wave longer. The Retro Fish is fairly skatey when I force it too much. So, I usually try to stay light on my feet and go with the flow. I think it’s an awesome board to maximize fun and improve your surfing by getting longer rides with more repetitions for maneuvers in the water.
