Myanmar Sleeper Train from Mandalay to Yangon

Follow Us as we share with you a highlight of our Myanmar adventure - taking the sleeper train operated by Myanmar Railways! Upon checking out of our "transit hotel", Hotel Marvel, we proceeded to Platform 1 at the Mandalay train station just below our hotel. The friendly hotel bellboy was nice enough to help porter our bags to the platform. Really appreciate that warm gesture. Our journey on Sleeper Train Number 4 to Yangon from Mandalay took us about 18 hours. The normal duration was about 16 hours. However, the train we took was delayed by about 2 hours. We booked ourselves 2 bunk beds in the sleeper cabin with the assistance of a local tour agency. We made a special request for the agency to help us secure the one and only sleeper cabin with 2 bunk beds, for the convenience of vlogging. (The rest of the sleeper cabins have 4 bunk beds.) The journey en-route was an interesting, albeit a rather bumpy one. We were treated with many scenes of country life in Myanmar. Farmers ploughing their plots with the aid of water buffalos, children playing in the river, locals looking forlorn as they sat at the train station waiting for their loved ones perhaps, enterprising locals peddling food and other necessities as our train made pit-stops at various stations en-route, and so much more! It was all in all an interesting journey, which helped shed some light on the way of life in the countryside of this wonderful country. Though tiring, we enjoyed the train ride very much.
