Shastar Darshan | Saif

Saif = A straight sword This sword belongs to the Son-in-law of Prophet Muhammad, Ali ibn Abi Talib. It can be dated back to 1450 Years ago. Inscribed with the names of Ali, Fatima (wife), Hassan and Hussain (Sons) along with some lines from the Quran. The blade carries engraved symbols of the Sun, Moon and Stars. This Saif was used in the Battle of Karbala where Hussain was martyred and this Saif was donated by Fatimah to Mecca. It was kept in Mecca until Aurangzeb’s visit to perform Hajj. Caretakers of that time found it justifiable to present this Saif to Aurangzeb as a token of appreciation as he had forcefully converted millions of people into Islam. Aurangzeb kept this Saif with utmost respect and upon his death, a conflict inflicted between his sons Tara Azam and Bahadur Shah. Bahadur Shah came to Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s sanctuary and asked for help. With Guru Ji’s blessings, Bahadur Shah gained power and sat on the throne of Delhi as the King of the Mughal Empire. This Saif was then presented to Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji by Bahadur Shah as a token of appreciation and is currently displayed at Takhat Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Anandpur Sahib
