Romancing SaGa 3 (SNES) - Final Boss and Ending (No Commentary)

Here it is, done at last. This is the version of the Destroyer without beating all the other Abyss Lords beforehand, so he (she? It?) is at full power. The Destroyer kinda comes out of left field and is in my opinion the lamest of the final bosses in the Romancing part of the series. But he can also be the toughest because there isn't an overall strategy since it can pull out all sorts of nasty tricks, and RS3 doesn't have as many exploitable tricks as the other games. For starters, preparations. Moon magic on everyone because it's just too good; Moon Shine with a Moon Bone accessory is the strongest single heal in the game. And Shadow Servant is every DPS' bread and butter. Normally it's too overkill for everything else, but this boss is just so beefy that it's almost necessary unless you are grossly overleveled. The other spells are not as important, aside from Fire Magic's Reviver which can be a lifesaver sometimes. I like to use Quick Time in the final phase because it forces my characters to attack first for a turn, and also cuts out the boss' turn when it's activated. It's not needed though. Lots and lots of Life Canes. That way I can panic heal if I get hit by a very strong party attack. The final phase is scary with the 100 passive damage every turn. I didn't exploit the Holy Ring bug so I only have one. Got at least 2 Dragon Scale armors, and 1 DS shield; the sword wasn't as useful because only Harid was maining swords. Everyone else gets the second best armor I can get for them. Harid is wielding an Ice Sword for the passive cold immunity only. He also has the Silver Hand to boost his damage further each Split Body. Good easy to learn evade skills are Net and Stare. Though the boss can do too many attacks and sparking + mastering evades in RS3 is a huge pain. The strategy is to murder the boss as fast as possible, hoping it doesn't do anything dumb like charm the whole party - that's basically it. Midway through the fight, it'll do the Beast Wing gimmick and mimic one of the Abyss Lords you didn't defeat (in my case, all of them), and that can be a crapshoot if it's either the Water one or the Earth one, because both love to spam physical attacks (which are the death of Shadow Servants), and Water one can do the Maelstrom attack that can instakill anybody without Dead protection (in my case, only the healers). The Fire wing can counter close range physical attacks with a nasty fire attack, so have some ranged skills ready (Tiger Break is great because it can't be countered). Don't be dumb like me and leave Julian with only a dumb AoE attack that barely does any damage. Also, each time it does the Eclipse thing, ALL your shields are broken, including Reviver, Shadow Servant, etc.. That's why it's better to save your Reviver casts for the final phase, or else it'll all be wasted. If you get good RNG and the boss doesn't do dumb things, the victory can come very clean. I messed up a bit on my inputs though so bear with me. Romancing SaGa 3 1995, Square Translation patch by ManaSword, 2000 All rights reserved to their respective creators.
