Airdate: Oct. 11, 1969 A year after posting this and over a million views, this was blocked because of song #6 I let run 2 or 3 seconds too long :( If you want to hear song #6 go watch “Midnight Cowboy”, lol. This is still one of my most favorite clips so I’m posting it again...hopefully for the last time. It’s worth another look anyways. Sugar, Sugar” is #1 for the 4th week in a row today and was the #1 song of 1969. “The Archies” was a fictional band created for the Saturday morning cartoon “The Archie Show” (’68-’69 on CBS) based on the Archie comic books. The band actually was made up of session musicians put together by Don Kirchner, with lead singer Ron Dante and backed up by Andy Kim who co-wrote the song. Dancing to the top 10 today are: Cathy Kilborn at 2:18, Frank Vanderpuil at 3:20, Carl Ratcher at 3:25, Marty Mane at 3:28, Don Sanuskar & Roni Menacker (in silhouette) at 3:35 and brothers Art (on our right) and Rudy (on our left) Mikaelian with Robin Miller at 3:40. Before he passed in Nov. 2018, Rudy commented here once in a while and said his brother Art had just returned from Vietnam at this time and the dance they are doing is called “the Spinner.” RIP Rudy.
