The most common 'ALLIED' Psychology Professions in the UK! (Guide for Psych Graduates)

In this week's video, I go into detail on the most common 'ALLIED' psychology professions in the UK, that is, those roles that ideally (some of them not essentially) require a person-centered career background (i.e. having studied psychology or counselling). These types of roles are key onto getting that relevant experience necessary to enter onto a core psychology profession afterwards (that is, the training programmes to become a qualified psychologist). However, these allied roles exist on their own as highly rewarding jobs in which you can grow in each of them and not necessarily follow any typical training route. Also, by no means these are the ONLY ones you can choose from, as there is a growing number of allied psych roles! But hopefully this will inspire psych students onto getting ideas as to WHAT to apply after they graduate. Enjoy! 😊 Timestamps: 00:00 – Intro 02:14 – Assistant Psychologist (AP) 03:34 – Clinical Associate in Psychology (CAP) 04:56 – Employment Specialist working in a charity (i.e. my current role!) 07:41 – High Intensity Therapist 09:27 – Learning and Behaviour Specialist 12:52 – Mental Health Social Worker 14:20 – Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) 15:42 – Research Assistant 16:40 – Speech and Language Therapist 19:18 – Other allied psychology professions not previously mentioned!
