SOLS in Timor Leste by Indrani Kopal East Timor has gone through a lot from war and invasion through to independence. The children, many of whom are deeply traumatised and in shock following their exposure to the recent violence and the dislocation from their homes and families. Homes and schools have been damaged and many children are distressed by the loss or absence of family members... Education has been highlighted as a serious priority as half the country's population cannot read. Sols expended its wing to East timor to give back to the children some hope for the future. Their mission there is to assist in the education of the children so that they have the opportunity to enhance their lives and those of the community.
