Actual Spey Casting after Learning on a Tenkara Rod

My first real reel attempt at actual spey casting. I took 1 group lesson about 2 months ago and a 2 hrs private lesson. I'm using g a 12ft 5wt Winston TH Spey Rod. The length is no problem and I'm very used to 12ft. The weight of the rod and reel is much heavier than my Zen Take or Kyojin Tenkara rods. So that is an adjustment. The line is MUCH heavier too. I am using a 7wt Hatch reel with RIO Skagiy Max Power Integrated line at #375 grains. It is a floating line. The head length is 20ft. Plus a 10ft Floating Mow Tip and about 4 to 6ft of tippet. I'm casting about 40ft of running line out as well and hitting (sometimes piling the line is on the other side of the bank. With little effort. Not bad for my first practice session on my own. My tenkara foundation has really helped . Casting long lines on a long tenkara rod is very similar. The diffis in the weight of the rod, the weight of the lineand the ability to shoot more line.
