Manchester Metrolink Another Look at Manchester City Centre on 14th October 2022

On Friday 14th October 2022, we visited Manchester City Centre again in an attempt to video or photograph all of the day's output and filmed 103 Metrolink Bombardier Flexity M5000s including the four working the Cornbrook to Trafford Centre service. The newest tram in service on the day was 3144. Three new allover adverts have been applied - to 3059, 3061 and 3081 - all advertising Mayor Andy Burnham's excellent "Get on Board" campaign to win people back to public transport with super low fares that really challenge you whether or not you should use your car. Curiously the adverts are applied to Metrolink trams but the fares are not available on the Metrolink - slightly strange and potentially very daft! Travelling on tram 3061, the two people sat in front of me were bemoaning the fact that they could not get a £2 fare on the tram - potential misrepresentation here though, in fairness, the trams are not mentioned on the adverts but the very fact the adverts are applied to the trams suggests implicit availability? We managed to see 3059 and 3061 but, upon enquiry, 3081 was not out on the day. We saw and photographed all of the allover adverts other than 3081 and Hard Rock Cafe advert 3102 which was another out of service on the day. 3005 (long term defective), 3019 and 3083 were still nowhere to be seen and, again, it was confirmed that they were defective.
