Time for Tea with Rofida, a Cancer Genomics STP

Hi everyone, today I chatted with Rofida, who’s on the Cancer Genomics stream also in Birmingham (I promise I’m going to go outside of Brum soon..)! It was lovely to catch up and she had some really good points about the application process, especially that it doesn’t just depend on you as an applicant but the rest of your pool, so try not to feel disheartened if it takes a couple of tries! She’s just finishing the bioinformatics rotation, so it was interesting to hear about what it’s like trying to refocus on something a bit less related to our backgrounds. As Rofida said, there’s loads of information on the NSHCS website about what you might be studying, so we’d definitely recommend you have a look there :) https://nshcs.hee.nhs.uk/programmes/stp/ If you’re not sure whether to apply for the Cancer Genomics or Genomics stream, programme-wise Rofida will be doing an extended Cancer Genomics rotation this year, whilst Christina and I will be doing Reproductive Science and Genomic Counselling rotations (however this can differ slightly between different training sites).
