I was completely bewitched by this tv-series. Italian history (my history) is so fascinating and the period in which Lorenzo The Magnificent was in power was one of the best, with philosophy, literature and arts reaching their peaks. Bradley James and Daniel Sharman are absolutely astonishing in these parts, their dynamic duo was an extremely perfect match. Such talent!! A little bit of history (to bore you in this quarantine time): Lorenzo and Giuliano belong to the House Medici, an important banking family and political dynasty that ruled upon Florence from 1434 till 1737 but its influence was much bigger than just Italy. The Medici Bank was one of the most prosperous and respected institutions in Europe and the Medici Family was considered the wealthiest at the time. Medici Family had many enemies during various generations, one of them was the Pazzi family, well known, thanks to history books, for the Pazzi conspiracy. On 26 April 1478 there was, infact, an attempt to kill both Giuliano and Lorenzo de' Medici at the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence. The assassination was originally planned for a banquet, but Giuliano was sick that day and couldn't attend. This was the only attempt in history that succeded to kill one of the members of the Medici House, Giuliano de' Medici. Lorenzo was only slightly wounded, he escaped and won his power back thanks to florentine people's support. Giuliano and Lorenzo were very close to each others, they co-ruled Florence contribuiting to its magnificence being 'patrons of the arts'. They were equally loved, admired and supported by florentine people and this is one of the reasons why the Pazzi Conspiracy failed. ''Him and his brother have to die simultaneously, because if one of them is left alive, he'll rally his city behind him'' There still so much to say about them, their family and italian Reinaissance but I'll cut it here.
