Feel with mind; think through the heart: Open the space between

This tea meditation at the mouth of a mandorla-shaped cave symbolises the meeting point of intellect and heart, pushing the boundaries of perception and understanding. The ceremony's diamond-shaped geometry and the mandorla represent a dynamic contradiction—one mutable, one immutable. The overlap of complementary opposites brings one to the threshold of unity, where clarity and obscurity invert, allowing the mind to feel and the heart to think, leading to a more holistic awareness. The act of preparing tea—water, powdered tea, whisked—mirrors this inversion of clarity and obscurity, capturing the essence of practice. Personally, this tea was inspired by the Gospel of Mary Magdalene, which states, "It is neither through the soul nor the spirit but the nous (eye of the heart) between the two which sees the vision, and it is this which . . .[text missing]" The missing text, lost to history, invites us to blend emotional and intellectual understanding, always feeling close to an answer that remains just out of reach.
