I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free - Jazz Blues Piano Improvisation | Robert Dimbleby

This protest song by Billy Taylor has been one of my all-time favourite pieces of music for many years and I’m performing it here in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. Now more than ever I feel compelled as a white musician to acknowledge how profoundly black music has influenced my life. Jazz, blues, gospel, funk and soul were all created by black musicians and I have had the privilege of performing this music for as long as I can remember. There is so much that I don’t know about the history of systemic racism and how it has shaped the world we live in and I have undoubtedly not done enough to actively help to combat this, but in light of recent events I feel deeply moved to do all that I can to make a positive difference by donating, educating myself, signing petitions, and generally not being silent.
