This SEBI Order will lower NSE Trading Charges for Retail Traders

Last year, we did a video on how NSE and Stockbrokers have a revenue-sharing partnership on the NSE Transaction charges. These charges are levied on retail traders across the segments. NSE shares a sizable percent, as much as 40%, of its revenue with Stockbrokers. In fact, last year NSE shared as much as INR 500 to 1000 Crores with stockbrokers as per a report. But Today, this setting stands to be cancelled. SEBI has directed NSE to stop this partnership and revenue sharing with brokers. NSE must levy true charges and take the whole amount from the broker from 1st October, 2024. NSE has also been told to reduce these transaction charges for the benefit of retail traders.  However, there could be repercussions. Brokers stand losing out the revenue part that they used to make with this partnership.  There is a possibility that discount or low brokerage brokers lose out on the revenue.  What does the future hold?
