I Spent $500 to Find the Best T-Shirt for Men in 2023 [Cuts, Asket, Uniqlo, Everlane etc]

T-Shirts are practically a daily uniform at this point. If we're going to be in t-shirts all day long, I wanted to find out what the best t-shirt would be in terms of quality, softness, and fit. I researched blogs, Reddit posts, YouTube videos and to learn everything I could about what makes a t-shirt great. I spent $600 on 7 different brands that kept coming up on my search. I put them all through their paces and made sure I tested them as thoroughly as I could to find the best t-shirt for men right now. First we have the Uniqlo Supima Cotton Crewneck T-Shirt. I've read high praises and glowing reviews for this so I was excited to give the Uniqlo a shot. It is made in Vietnam, with 100% Supima cotton. The fit is in between a slim fit and a regular fit. It hugs the arms well, and leaves room in the stomach but shrinks a bit after a wash. People have said the quality on the Uniqlo Supima used to be very good but has gone down in recent months when the production factory shifted. For $15 it's still a solid t-shirt from Uniqlo for anyone on a budget but better ones are available. The Cuts Clothing Split Hem Crewneck T-Shirt is super soft and bouncy out of the box. Cuts Clothing t-shirts are made from their own fabric called Pyca. The fabric is stretchy, wrinkle resistant and feels 'performance' oriented in a synthetic way. The fabric is thin and breathable but not in a cheap way. For $48 it's pricey butI'm impressed by the buttery fabric, the stretch, and how low maintenance it is but probably wouldn't buy another pair due to the length on me and the price. Everlane Premium Weight Crew is marked as a slim fit but is the boxiest out of all the t-shirts today. At 6.2 ounces, the weight of this t-shirt is great but it was the most basic of the batch. Reminded me of a fresh Gildan t-shirt but with more weight. It costs $30, I would say this isn't worth it and was slightly disappointed. I was introduced to Robert Barakett about a year ago and they've been my go to since. The Canadian company calls it the Barakett T but it's also known as the Robert Barakett Georgia Crew in some retailers. It's made from 100% ultra-fine US grown cotton and is finished with a heavy enzyme wash. The split hem is a nice feature that prevents any pulling for more athletic legged people. Robert Barakett tees are $60 but don't pay that much for this t-shirt. They can be found around $20-$40 on sale all the time. 3Sixteen specializes in raw denim so I was a little hesitant adding them to this list. However, there seems to be a cult like following for their t-shirts and I had to see what it was all about. The t-shirt is 100% American grown pima cotton. The fabrics is roughly 160gsm so it feels substantial in a good way. The shirts are made in the USA so they come at a premium. They're only available in packs of two which is weird but many higher end t-shirts seems to go this route. Colors are limited to black and white in the Pima shirts as of me making this video. They're really high quality so the price is justified but they aren't my favorite solely due to the fit Lady White Company was started on this one t-shirt. I was super excited to get this in because I was intrigued by the lack of side seams. This model is called the "Our T-Shirt". It's made of 100% cotton from North Carolina. It is cut, sewn, and knitted in Los Angeles. The construction on this tee is flawless. The fit is relaxed and boxy so I'm glad I got a small to get the fit I like. I was disappointed when I took it out because the fabric was very rough. The fabric didn't have that soft brushed like finish that I look for personally. It's supposed to break in and get softer the more it's worn so I'll have to see what it's like a year from now. Lastly we have Asket. Asket is a Swedish company with a pursuit to create the best basics. The fabric was soft to the touch, but second to Cuts Clothing. It offers enough structure for it to feel well made but flows enough to drapes over the body really well. There were no stray threads on either of the t-shirts and everything was put together flawlessly. Overall I was very impressed and it definitely lived up to my expectation If you read this far down, drop a 🍁 in the comments!
