Mega Man 2 No Death Long Play (Difficult Mode)

I originally completed this challenge back in 2008 using the Playstation 2 MegaMan Collection Anniversary Edition version with a less than stellar capture of the game. At the time I was capturing footage using an internal capture card on a much older machine where I was at the mercy of antivirus kicking on and killing my frame drop rate. You really notice this in the bubble man stage in my original run of the game. This was also the time where segments on YouTube could only be 10 minutes maximum until you reached a certain threshold which was eventually loosened. This no death run was completed on the original cartridge on my retro Nintendo system. I had to train up on the game once again and this time I was able to surpass my previous efforts to the point where I didn’t use any E-tanks in addition to the no death challenge. I have time stamps further below for those who want to skip to a particular stage. While you can see the general strategy by watching the video, I wanted to touch upon some observations I had when watching both runs. I agree with some comments that I was quite reckless during the first run. I was actually surprised how bad some of it was hence all of the E-tank usage. I compared this to my new run over a decade later and I am still a little reckless but it is more refined to the point where I didn’t need to use any E-tanks. A couple notable improvements were on the metal man, quick man, and air man boss battles. It turns out that I still retained most of my robot master stage completion order. Another fun oddity was the random drop rate for extra lives. On this run I amassed 14 extra lives as compared to eight on the original run.
