The Paisley-born advocate is most famous for masterminding a heist to 'steal' or 'liberate' the Stone of Destiny from Westminster Abbey in 1950. But there was much more to this 'man o' pairts' than that. Scotland’s national bard Robert Burns praised ‘the man o’ independent mind’ in his song A Man’s A Man For A’ That. It well described Ian, who challenged establishments throughout his long life. He still had much to say when The Oban Times interviewed him in 2017 at his home in Connel.
