This video demonstrates the EMT CPR station, a component of the NREMT psychomotor exam. En Route to the Call: Check and assemble equipment Prepares bag-valve-mask correctly Connects the device to oxygen supply Turns on a portable oxygen tank Adjusts flowmeter to correct setting Equipment prepared correctly (functioning & ready for use) On scene: Takes or verbalizes appropriate PPE precautions Determines the scene/situation is safe Requests additional EMS assistance Checks patient responsiveness Checks breathing and pulse simultaneously Directs Partner to: Immediately begins chest compressions [adequate depth and rate; allows the chest to recoil completely] -Performs 2 minutes of high-quality, 2-rescuer adult CPR -Adequate depth (2-2.4 inches) and rate (100-120/minute) -Correct compression-to-ventilation ratio (30:2) -Allows the chest to recoil completely -Minimal interruptions of no more than 10 seconds throughout Turns on power to AED Follows prompts and correctly attaches AED to patient Stops CPR and ensures all individuals are clear of the patient during rhythm analysis Resume compressions while AED is charging Ensures that all individuals are clear of the patient and delivers shock from AED Immediately directs rescuer to resume chest compressions Opens the airway Verbalizes or demonstrates insertion of the OPA Proper rate and ratio of breaths (2 ventilations to 30 breaths) Correct placement of mask Adequate chest rise with ventilation Proper technique for delivering effective ventilations Critical Criteria Failure to take or verbalize appropriate PPE precautions Failure to check responsiveness, then check breathing and pulse simultaneously for no more than 10 seconds Failure to immediately begin chest compressions as soon as pulselessness is confirmed Failure to demonstrate acceptable high-quality, 1-rescuer adult CPR Interrupts CPR for more than 10 seconds at any point Failure to correctly attach the AED to the patient #DieselTherapyAcademy #emseducation #emtstudent #ambulance #ems #paramediclife #nremt #emtschool #emtclass #medicschool #paramedical #nremtprep #emtstudents #medicstudents #futureemt #futureparamedic #emstraining #trauma #meducational #emergencymedicalservices #emslife #emergencymedicine #
