Last year (or it may have started late in '14) the Dellas did a Pledgemusic campaign for their self-titled third album which wound up being released in May. If you haven't heard of Pledgemusic, it's a crowdfunding site for...drum roll please...musicians. Similar to Kickstarter there are rewards, with dollar amounts attached. One that I picked was for a cover song of your choice. My selection for the cover song was Son of a Preacher Man. When I selected the song, I had it in mind with Celia singing, with that smoky/bluesy voice of hers. Imagine my surprise to open the video and see that dear sweet Jenni Lyn had decided to reward me for my creepy crush by serenading me. :p Oddly, it took me a few times watching it to get my head around the change, having pictured it with Celia singing (not to mention my alleged brain is rather slow). Once I did, I was able to fully appreciate it. With Jenni Lyn doing the singing, it's more clearly putting their own stamp on it. Not that Celia on vocals would have sounded like a rubber stamp by any means, or that Jenni Lyn's voice is the only difference. Obviously they had to arrange it for their own instruments as well. Okay, enough babbling by me. Enjoy the magic that is Della Mae.
