He wasn't aware Chesed had an Exodia like the rest of the Briah Tier (look mountain of smiling bodies is an Exodia if u kill all 4). He wasn't expecting it and had to regather his strength. Especially after Chesed decide to don the page of Argalia! In case your wondering why Argalia page, I was trying to get reverberation off with it but found it to hard to do so. However it is great for tanking ranged attacks if need be.
