The following was done to get it back to life; -Rebuilt original Toyota CT-20 (Hitachi 17201-54060) Turbo @ Fuel Injection Services Co. Some facts on this 1985 Toyota LN65L-MDXA Pickup: -93 hp @ 4,000 rpm & 159 lb⋅ft @ 2,400 rpm using the 2L-T engine. -The origin of the name "Hilux" is derived from the words "high" + "luxury. -Two diesel engines were also offered, the 2L and the turbocharged 2L-T. The engines were discontinued in the U.S. after the 1986 model year, this was due to higher performance expectations from customers and the wide availability of inexpensive gasoline. -The fourth generation remained in production until 1997 in South Africa due to South African "content laws" which made it cheaper to continue the production of the fourth generation of the Hilux, rather than to retool the plant for the fifth generation model. -Solid front axles had been present in all 4x4 Toyota models until 1986; 1985 was the last year they used it in their pickup trucks. 🚚💨
