Mt Aspiring in a day

Running up and down Mt Aspiring/Tititea (3033m) with Alastair McDowell, Rose Pearson & Hamish Fleming, trailpine style. Nearing the end of summer, Mt Aspiring, one of the most beautiful of NZ's 3000m peaks, is all but bare of snow. This makes for ideal conditions to take it on in a lightweight style. Crampons weren't even needed for the whole ascent! Each of us had previously climbed the NW ridge over 3-4 days staying in the huts and carrying large packs. Stripping away all but the bare essentials for a day trip made for an exhilarating fast-paced day out and a completely different experience.
