Die Sonne scheint über dem Osten | DDR armed forces

✉️ Briefing: The Nationale Volksarmee, the "National People's Army", was the army of the German Democratic Republic from 1956 to 1990. According to the Party, the NVA was "the instrument of power of the working class" in the GDR, protecting and securing "socialist conquests" from external attack. The People's Army served to defend the GDR and the other socialist countries linked to it under the Warsaw Pact against possible imperialist aggression. Many members of the army honestly believed they were serving their country through their service, and thereby contributing to world peace. NVA soldiers can be identified by their unusually shaped M1956 helmets and Strichtarn "lines" camouflage uniforms. In the 1980s, when the maneuvers in this video take place, the NVA comprised some 150,000 men. Constantly on the front line (as during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, or during the tensions associated with NATO's Able Archer exercise in 1983), East German forces had to be ready, as they would be the first line of defence against NATO armies in the event of war. This video shows the NVA in action on various maneuvers. Restored to HD and enhanced to 60 FPS, discover amazing footage of the East German army in action, boosted by the amazing beats of ‪@rfwm‬! 🔑 Guide: 00:00 - Intro 00:15 - Marine assault 01:33 - Airbase capture 02:30 - Preparations 02:46 - Final assault on the city 03:27 - Night combats 💽 Song: ‪@rfwm‬ - Benefactors https://rfwm.bandcamp.com/track/benef... ⭐ My Discord server:   / discord   📸 Instagram:   / sternjaegerfr   ⚠️ Copyrights: Please consider I always buy a legal copy of the sources I use for my videos if they're not public, but I don't own any rights about the content used here to make this video.
