Match Highlights | Celtic FC B 5-0 Edinburgh University | A fantastic five for the Young Hoops!

Celtic B recorded a convincing 5-0 victory in their Lowland League clash with Edinburgh University at the Excelsior Stadium. A goal from Ben McPherson was all that separated the sides at the break, before his teammates Corey Thomson, Joey Dawson, and Ben Quinn added to the scoreline in the second-half. Celtic dominated possession from the offset, with the first goal coming on 21 minutes. McPherson picked the ball up in the middle of the pitch and took a strike from the edge of the box and after deflecting off the Edinburgh defence, it hit the back of the net and put the Hoops ahead. McPherson’s opener was the only action from the first 45 minutes, although the young Celtic side enjoyed the majority of the possession. At half-time, Joseph Murphy made way for Joey Dawson and it didn’t take long for the Hoops to test the Edinburgh defence as things got back underway. Ben Quinn took advantage of a rebound from Bruno Davidson’s initial effort and put the ball in the back of the net, however, the flag went up and it was ruled offside. Just moments later, McPherson came inches away from a second as he found himself with space in the box but his strike from close range flew over the crossbar. The second came on the 56th minute, when Dawson laid the ball off to Corey Thomson, who made no mistake in sending it straight into the top corner. The intensity only heightened from there on in as the third came just five minutes later. Letsosa hit the post, but Dawson was there with a quick reaction and sent it straight past the Edinburgh University keeper. Moments later, with 63 minutes played, Ben Quinn scored his third goal in two games with a strike from close range after Dawson’s effort was hit clear. With a 4-0 lead, Celtic made a three substitutions as Josh Dede, Magnus Mackenzie and Francis Turley all came on for Matthew Anderson, Ben McPherson and Corey Thomson. With 75 minutes gone, Bruno Davidson cut through the middle of the pitch, weaving his way through several players before getting a strike away from the edge of the box which the keeper did well to save. Celtic remained dominant right into the final moments of the game, with Quinn getting the fifth on the 86th minute. After receiving the ball on the left wing and striking from a tight angle, the ball hit the roof of the net to give Quinn his second bace in two games. With all three points and a brilliant performance behind them, the next test for Celtic FC B Team comes on Tuesday night as they welcome Berwick Rangers to the Excelsior stadium. --- 🍀Subscribe today to the official YouTube of the world’s first Quadruple Treble winners, Celtic Football Club: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_c... 📽️ Plus, you can watch exclusive player and manager interviews, full-match replays and go behind the scenes of Celtic FC ONLY on Celtic TV.
