Group hike to Williams Lake & Wheeler Peak, August 23-25, 2019. Starting from the Taos Ski Valley we hiked up to Williams Lake on Friday afternoon and made camp near a stream and waterfall about a quarter of a mile past the lake. Saturday we hiked to the summit of Wheeler Peak, then had a "pot luck" stew, cooked over the campfire, for dinner. Sunday morning we hiked back down to Taos Ski Valley. There were fourteen people total in our group, with four of them starting out from Taos Ski Valley a few hours behind the rest of us. This is basically a documentary video of our hike, created primarily so that the members of the group can look back at it for nostalgia's sake and so that our friends and families can share in our weekend getaway, but shared with the public so that everyone can get an idea of what the trail and scenery were like. Yes, there is a lot of footage of us apparently "just hiking", but it's not just about the hiking: it's about the journey: the trail, the scenery, the wildlife, and camaraderie that develops when a group of people who mostly know little about each other (mostly what we all had in common at the beginning was being acquainted with the hike leader) go on a weekend adventure together.
