Power of Play PVT LTD in partnership with Strengthening Reconciliation Processes in Sri Lanka (SRP) proudly presents Mahadanamuththa's modern golayas (disciples) video on the importance of sharing home responsibilities for equal partnerships. This is the first episode in a campaign for #genderequality and #racialharmony during and after the global pandemic of #COVID19, which placed many households under an unprecedented amount of challenges that adversely affected lives of many women and children with an increase in domestic violence. This story targets the crucial issue of sharing night feeds of a new born baby allowing the mother the rest that is critical for her mental and physical wellbeing. Piyadasa and Polbaamuuni are new parents and we meet them on a night where an exhausted Polbaamuuni requests her partner to take over the night care of their infant as she wishes to have her first night of uninterrupted sleep in 5 months. The dialogue also addresses the importance for Fathers to spend one-on-one time with children (from their birth) to establish strong bonds that are important throughout a child's life. In discussion, Piyadasa also suggests that Polbaamuuni takes some time for herself to focus on her physical health and they both agree that such sharing of duties will pave way for a healthier and happier marriage.
