RFF Live | Minority Food Producers in the Climate Transition

Minority farmers and ranchers are a critical component of our nation’s food security, land management, and environmental stewardship pathways. Yet farmers and ranchers of color remain severely under-invested in and underserved across the spectrum of public agricultural programs. This panel will discuss the state of minority producers in the climate transition, the alternative pathways created by minority producers for information and resource access as a result of exclusion from past and current government programs, and the role of economists and researchers in developing sustainable agriculture solutions for climate change that reflect the different opportunities and pathways available to producers of color. On May 7, Resources for the Future (RFF) held “Minority Food Producers in the Climate Transition,” the fourth webinar in our 2024 Exposure event series. This webinar will explore the topic of minority agricultural producers in the climate transition and feature leading experts on the issues. Speakers: - Seanicaa (Edwards) Herron, Freedmen Heirs Foundation - Dr. LaKisha Odom, Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research - Dr. Loutrina Staley, National Association of Conservation Districts - Suzanne Russo, Resources for the Future (Moderator)
