Two HUGE SECRETS To Recording Drums (It’s Easier & Cheaper Than You Think)

Transform your drum recordings and videos with two powerful FREE tools in Logic Pro X. Not only will we discuss how to use compression with compressors and equalization through graphic EQs and other EQs plugins – here, you'll get tips for making social media videos with your drum covers, economizing your recording workflow, and more. Got questions? Put 'em in the comments! 🚨 Free Drumless Practice Tracks – Pay what you want to help support these videos. https://slouxrecordingco.bandcamp.com/ ---------------------------------------------------- WORK WITH ME 👉🏼 DRUMMERS – Let's work together on drumming, drum recording, and career coaching topics. https://www.timbaltes.com/lessons 👉🏼 MAKERS/DISTRIBUTORS/RETAILERS – Let's collab on product dev, ops strategy, marketing, and more! https://www.timbaltes.com/consulting 👉🏼 LISTENERS – Learn more about drums AND me through podcasts I've been on. https://www.timbaltes.com/podcasts ---------------------------------------------------- I've been a drummer for over 15 years, and I've been a musician for over 25, but I've only been recording drums seriously for less than a decade. I quickly learned how to get great drum sounds with a few secrets. In previous videos, I've talked about the importance of selecting the right drum heads, hitting your drums (particularly the snare drum) in such a way to produce the best tones, tuning the drums right, and much more. I've even talked about the importance of setting up your microphones the right way too! Room mics are one of my biggest secrets to getting the best sounding drums in your headphones, through your studio monitors, or even through your iPhone speaker. Today, we're going to get into my DAW – Logic Pro X on my MacBook Pro – to show you how to use a couple key tools that will give you better drum sounds in no time at all. We'll also cover the benefits of paid plugins, like the ones I used from Waves Audio, as well. Let's give a big thanks to @ZeKePlaysDrums for his great playing, unique approach to music creation, and his wonderful-sounding audio. Connect with Zeke if you're looking for drum lessons in Oregon or if you need a drummer for your next tour! Drum-related audio on my end was captured with two Universal Audio Apollo x8p interfaces using 1073 preamp modeling. Mics include: - SE Electronics V-Kick (Kick In) - Dr. Alien Smith Alien8 (Kick Out) - Shure Unidyne III SM57 (Snare Top) - Rode NT55 w/ Cardioid Capsule (Snare Top) - Audio-Technica ATM650 (Snare Bottom) - Sennheiser MD-421 (Each Tom) - AKG C414 TLII Pair (Overheads) - Apex 210B Ribbon into Soyuz Launcher (Room) - Shure 588SB (Vocal) I use Logic Pro X, Waves Audio plugins, and I really need a nap – like now. Oh, and that cool mic cable? It comes from Sorry Cables in LA. – https://www.sorrycables.com/ Questions? I do lessons on drumming, recording drums, social media, and more. Plus, I've been working with drum companies on all sorts of cool stuff. Check out my website! And you can always find me at [email protected] or hit me up on my other socials.
