They pulled their act together and decided they would modernize their classic rock n roll style to be more Hard Rock/Metal. The group managed to created one of their greatest albums called Creatures of the Night. The album wasn't commercially successful but the hardcore fans knew the band had created their best album since the mid 70's. War Machine is one of the band's heaviest songs. Even though Ace Frehley is on the album cover, he wasn't on the album and he would eventually be replaced by one of the albums contributors Vinnie Vincent. Vinnie's solo on war machine is amazing. It has an eerie macabre feeling to it with all the low whammy bar dives but yet it also has an immediate intensity with all the fast pentatonic licks.
