Gabby Troy, Roaa Marei, Sofia Perez Casillas As college students, we are usually deprived of sleep and hitting the snooze button in the morning is sometimes cumbersome. So, we wanted to create an alarm clock that is more engaging and beats the regular alarm on our phones. The objective was to create something that is more user interactive instead of hitting a normal snooze button, we wanted the user to work for the alarm to stop sounding. First, the user would have to set the desired alarm time for the clock to go off in the morning or whenever they should so desire. When the alarm goes off, the piezo buzzer starts sounding and the Neotrellis pad starts lighting up with 4 different keys to press in order to stop the alarm. The pattern of the Neotrellis pad changes everyday so the user doesn’t treat the alarm as a regular snooze button by memorzing the pattern. Our alarm clock involves the user to be awake or atleast conscious so that they are able to see the lights flashing on the Neotrellis pad and follow it to make the buzzer stop. So, to move on to the next flashing key out of the four total, the user has to get the first key correct and with the guidance of the pad, they should be able to with no trouble since the light flashes at the user if they get it correct and display the correct key again for them. The inspiration was to not make it so difficult for us in the morning, but we wanted to design something simple that gets the job done better than the snooze button.
