TOP GUN and karate kid part II For my birthday that summer I got to invite 6 of my friends to see the karate kid II and I was over the moon. About a week later me and a few of those friends snuck into a showing of Aliens… As my parents wouldn’t let me see it. I think that’s actually the first time I’ve every told anyone I did that. Those were the days. Great summer blockbusters and all the great music coming over the radio. And it’s kind of interesting, because here we are decades later, Top Gun 2 is coming out and Cobra Kai is one of the biggest shows on Netflix. and Stranger Things has brought 80s music into the playlists of my kids and their friends. That’s why the 80s rule, their impact is still felt everyday. One of the best songs of that amazing summer of 1986 was a little top 3 ditty that was a number one hit on the dance charts for some time, called I Cant Wait by Portland band NU SHOOZ. I've got to tell ya, Once you heard this part: You couldn’t get it out of your ever living head. To me it’s one of the catchiest hooks from the decade. I remember whistling it around the house all that summer. It was pure 80s Freestyle Synth Pop
