Leo’s cubs, Runi and Ruki, come upon Rick, an African wild dog (of the genus Lycaon, hence the title), who has nearly died crossing the desert. Despite the other animals’ furious protests, they befriend him and nurse him back to health, with Leo’s consent. However, Leo remains suspicious of Rick and his motives, but keeps it to himself. When disaster strikes, Rick’s true character comes out… This was the tenth episode of Osamu Tezuka's Japanese animated series, "Leo the Lion," the English-dubbed version of "Jungle Taitei Susume Leo!" (Jungle Emperor Onward Leo!), the 1966 follow-up to "Jungle Taitei," the 1965 series shown in the United States as "Kimba, the White Lion."
