In this video I'm talking about the virtues of working with analog faders, sans automation. What I didn't say is that I still like to do automation in the DAW, but having the analog faders definitely adds a sense of freedom and spontaneity to the mixing process.  For me, this is a big difference between a lot of summing boxes vs mixing consoles, even consoles that don't have processing. It's about having faders. I love the X-Desk, but I think it was a big mistake to not include a master bus fader. A pot is not the same. fortunately, it's not as important being used as a drum submixer.
