CLASSIC Locos and Trains at Carlisle! Classes 37, 86, 90s, 70s, 66s, 68s, 88, 43s 19 December 22 An interesting day on a damp and windy Citadel station. Busy both with trains and passengers. In the centre roads were 37706 on, I think, snow duties (just in case it snowed, as forecast) and 86101 Sir William Stanier FRS having performed Ice Breaking duties that morning from Crewe. Additionally we have the regular intermodals, 68s on unspecified jaunt to Penrith, A Freightliner 66 came over from Tyne Yard and returned with another Class 66. Several passenger trains were late, especially with Avanti. The logs to Chirk ran - still routed by the West Coast Main Line. Then we have the New Measurement Train which came in from Darlington, via Newcastle. After a break for the driver and on board staff, the train returned to Newcastle.
