1975 Honda TL125 K2 Full Restoration Part 1 ( Frame Restoration )

Another year another big restoration project. This year it is the turn of my 1975 Honda TL125 K2 but more of that in a second. Due to a few requests i have now started a Patreon page. If you like what im doing with the channel and want to help support the channel and help it grow the feel free to make a small donation. patreon.com/ReallyRandomChannel Anyway onto the bike. As you may remember i restored the tank from this bike in a previous video for the previous owner of the bike. his intention was to have me restore the tank and that would give him the inspiration to get on with the rest of the bike but sadly this was not the case. So i made him an offer on it and now its mine to restore back to its former glory. It was initially found lying in a barn parted out and whats left is all that you see in the video so theres a lot of bits ill need to source, easier said than done! No one even knows if it runs as whoever parted it out has been long forgotten in the sands of time, then my friend stepped in saved it from the barn and now its in my possession. So the first job was to finish what had been started and that was stripping it down. It didnt take long as none of the bolts were seized and a lot had been replaced with cap screws so that tells me someone has cared for this bike at some point. After it was all stripped it was given a throughout cleaning before i applied the paint stripper and started stripping the old fashioned messy way as the frame wont fit in my blaster and i dont want to send the frame out for blasting as i want to do everything on the bike myself. Once the paint was off i was surprised to see that the frame was in really nice condition apart from the surface rust that had spidered its way under the paint and to just about every corner of the frame. But no matter a selection of wire wheels and grinding discs would make short work of it! After wire brushing i filled a couple of small dents in the frame , i used filler as they were so small they didnt warrant getting a stud welded to them and being pulled out. Then i degreased every part of the frame before coating in etch primer to prepare the surface for the high build 2k primer. High build was used to fill in all of the small crater left behind from when i removed the rust. After baking the primer was hard enough to begin the wet flatting process, technically this is not need on a frame as most of it is never seen when the bike is built but this is Really Random Channel and if a job is worth doing its worth over doing! When the sanding was complete i re-etched a few areas of rub through then proceeded with a nice glossy coat of black to finish of the frame restoration. As you can see from the results it turned out fantastic! This project is shaping up to be a good one! Stay tuned for episode 2 coming soon ;) A new addition to my videos from now on will be a water mark and my channel name popping up in random places throughout the video as im getting rather tired of people re-uploading my content as their own i hope you guys understand. If you like what you see and have any ideas for the channel or would even like to donate something to restore to the channel please get in touch. :) And as usual if you liked the video please like share and subscribe and help the channel grow. #Restoration #Honda #Trials Really Random Channel 1975 Honda Tl125 K2 Full Restoration Part 1
