Once I got it home I realized it had a brand new Pirelli P3000 fitted. A perfect match for a Restore It video. First I removed the air from the tyre. I then struggled to get the tyre off as the rim was so rusty. Once off I removed the wheel weights and valve. Once they were out of the way, I began to remove the loose rust and dirt with a metal wire wheel and rotary tool. Once most it was off, I placed the wheel in the blaster and blasted it for what felt like a lifetime. The results were not adequate. So the wheel went off to a friend's more power blaster, where two different grades of media were used. This gave the wheel its original colour back. But it was pitted pretty much everywhere. The filler was used to smooth out all of the pittings and imperfections. It took a hell of a lot of filler and sanding to get it close to acceptable. Once I thought I satisfied with the surface, I set about priming the wheel. I then added more filler and did more sanding to completely remove any sizeable imperfection. I then added the colour coats and lacquer coats. Once dry I took the wheel and tyre to a professional fitter as to not have the wheel scratched. He supplied a new valve and air. I then added tyre shine and the restoration was complete. This wheel will not be used on a vehicle. This was for aesthetic's only. A personal challenge I set myself. Disclaimer: I am no professional. I am completely self-taught and would appreciate any feedback, advice or constructive criticism.
