TBPPM Friday Forum 24-3 | Shorter TB drug regimens: How to improve access tor Private Providers?

Discussion on the 1/4/6x24 campaign and engagement of private healthcare providers. The campaign focuses on access to shorter TB regimens, which is of crucial importance to offer TB patients better care. The mid-campaign report “Getting Better Faster: Delivering on the Promise of New TB Treatments” was launched on World TB Day showing progress and outstanding gaps. Paul Farmer, whose legacy inspired the 1/4/6x24 campaign, insisted that the best available prevention and treatment options be made available to everyone, everywhere. Farmer regularly called for the full healthcare infrastructure necessary for delivering person-centered care — what he referred to as the ‘5 Ss’: staff, stuff, space, systems and support. This approach requires a multisector and fully financed TB response. This discussion will focus on how all healthcare providers (including those in the private sector) can have access to these shorter drug regimens and what barriers are currently. Some of the key questions to guide the discussion: 1) What are you most excited about in terms of the new, shorter regimens for TB treatment and prevention? 2) How do you make sure the people you serve are able to access these regimens, especially those seeking care in the private sector? And what help do you need to make these more widely available for private providers? 3) What worries do you see in the roll-out of these regimens (also amongst private providers)? 4) How do you plan to include children in the scale up? Pregnant people? Other vulnerable groups? 5) Tell me one thing you are going to do after this webinar to improve access to 1/4/6 for all people living with TB (and what would you like others to do?) ------------- Be a part of the TBPPM Learning Network: https://www.tbppm.org/ Follow us on Twitter:   / tb_ppm
