It's almost a year since I've had the chance to get a flight in. But here we are at last. Decent weather, without ridiculously hard breezes, and a new a video that (unintentionally) picks up where I left off last year. I went out to take my car to the car wash. I only threw the drone in the back as an afterthought - just in case I had time for a flight. I did have time, but there there was only around 70% charge in the batteries because I hadn't topped them up for a month. I was exceptionally rusty on the sticks (and the arthritis in my thumb has got worse), so I really wanted to just re-familiarise myself with the controls after all this time. The drone was, as usual, faultless. But there was a moment of panic towards the end. I was returning to the home point after the usual low battery warning when, about halfway across the cove, it switched a critical battery warning. I've never left it that late before, and I started to panic. I rushed it back, ASAP, and didn't mess around with any nice, clean, hand-landings. Nope, I just hurriedly dropped her down onto the horrible sandy promenade - where you can see all the lovely grit and dust the drone threw into the air before the rotors stopped! I'm sure that'll do the motors a lot of good! As per usual, I also missed all the trains. With my usual impeccable mis-timing, they only turned up after I'd put the drone away. Maybe next time, eh?!
