Post betrayal syndrome is something you could experience if your parent fails you in specific ways. Bad parents are often immature and selfish. They are often the reason for post betrayal syndrome and PTSD in some adult children. A parent plays a significant role in a child's life. We rely on our parents for a lot of things in life including the relationships we have and the opportunities we take on. No child ever expects their parent to leave. So how do you process a toxic parent-child relationship where the parent is: selfish self-centered egotistical egocentric manipulative undiagnosed controlling abusive angry or hostile, and self-blaming? It's very difficult.
