The most that no matter what class you were in, the question that came up over and over again was, is this going to be on the test? And I've been thinking about that with our upcoming election. And many of us, many of us will get lots of opinions thrown at us. Lots of, well you better do this, or you better do that, or make sure you do this. And so, we're really being swamped with a lot of stuff that we don't understand. But, what is it, what is it that we who are believers, or Christians, Catholics, followers of this Jesus, what do we do? How does that impact our voting? And certainly, those who are seeking for our votes, will pay attention to that. There's a story in Matthew about the Last judgment and God divides the sheep and the goats. And he says to the sheep, “Welcome to the Kingdom, because when I was hungry, you fed me, when I was thirsty you gave me to drink”, and he goes through a list. And they say to him, “What? When did we see you hungry? We never saw you hungry.” And he says, “When you did it to the least of these, you did it to me.” And the interesting thing about that story is the people who are condemned say the same thing. Well, when did we see you? And he said when you didn't do it to the least, you didn't do it to me. And so, there are lots, many, many things to consider as we go into the voting booth this November. But I ask you to consider the final test. What's going to be on the test? The test is when you did it to the least of these, you did it to me. I don't think there's a clear answer of who, which candidate is better as far as our faith goes. We take that faith wherever we go and we make our judgments based on that faith. Are we always right? Is it always the right thing to do? Not always. But we give it our best shot. And so, as this November approaches and as we listen, listen to all kinds of. Theories that well, you have to do this, and you have to (do that). We return to our roots, to our bedrock. When you did it to the least of these, you did it to me.
