The magic of the Ponytail Facelift is our ability to treat all three layers of the aging face simultaneously: The sagging deep tissue of the face called the SMAS (which is the facia that covers the muscles of the face) the loss of fat volume in the middle layer the face, and sun damage and deterioration of the skin in the superficial layer. The traditional facelift separates the skin away from the underlying fat, and also separates the fat off of the muscle. Those tiny little blood vessels from the fat that feed the skin... You have to cut it. The blood vessels from the muscle that feed the fat are also cut… So the skin and fat of the face is somewhat de-vascularize by this dissection. This is why simultaneous full-face laser resurfacing is not advisable during a traditional facelift. In the Ponytail Lift™ / Ponytail Facelift™, we use tiny little incisions. The "deep plane" under the SMAS is tightened endoscopically without disrupting the blood vessels. The volume is replaced with fat, the blood supply to the skin and fat is preserved so we can perform a full-face laser resurfacing without undo risks. This is the Ponytail Facelift Difference.
