The Massai Neck contour is achieved by removing fat from under the neck muscle and sculpting the deep structures of the neck. The precious subcutaneous fat is preserved to support the skin so we can maintain a soft, natural look to the neck. I prefer NOT to do liposuction in the neck. Since Liposuction in this region can only be done in the subcutaneous plane, It can become irregular or even lumpy. Aggressive lipo can thin out the skin so much that the neck looks "harsh." Furthermore, scar bands can form between the skin and the muscle so when the patient swallows, turns, or extends the neck, the skin dimples or pulls along with the contraction of the muscle. I understand it's a common practice to Liposuction the neck, however I prefer to contour the deep compartment of the neck, then directly "plane" the subcutaneous fat to achieve the desired contour.
