PRONATION-SUPINATION TWIST

Pronation- Supination twist is an exclusive motion that happens in the tarsometatarsal joint of ankle and foot complex. The tarsometatarsal joint of the foot includes atriculation between metatarsals with tarsal bones namely the cuneforms and cuboid bone, the atriculation between 1st to 3rd metatarsals forms a functional unit in foot along with metatarsals and its known as Rays of foot.In 4 th and 5 th MTP joint rays are formed by the metatarsals along and not in association with cuboid bone. The supination twist is an inversional rotation that happens in foot when the forefoot goes for counter-rotation to the pronation happening in rear foot. When pronation occurs in rear food and if transverse tarsal joint cannot counter act it by providing supination then TMT Joints action is required. At TMT the 1st Ray goes for dorsiflexion , inversion and adduction were as 5 th goes for Plantar flexion, eversion and abduction thus producing a invertional rotation at TMT joints called SUPINATION TWIST.
